The Open Doors Campaign

The Open Doors Campaign takes place between 27th March – 1st April 2017

This is a unique chance for schools and other visitors to see behind the scenes at major “live” construction sites across England, Scotland and Wales.

Discover how the building and structures in your community are constructed and find out about the diverse range of skills and professions needed on site. Be inspired by this growing industry and learn how to start your career in construction.

The Lovell Partnership has opened the doors on their site to Nelson House, Tipton, West Midlands.

About the Project:
Lovell are undertaking a £2.5m facelift to transform Nelson House, an occupied 9-storey block of 34 residential flats on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

The refurbishment includes a new feature roof, the addition of external insulated cladding, all new windows and doors, new balcony balustrades, redecorated communal areas and new lighting, fire alarms and smoke detectors. There will also be comprehensive landscaping and a larger car park. All of the works are being carried out around the residents who are in-situ whilst the works are being carried out.

Visitors will receive a brief introduction and site induction and then move onto a tour of the site including access to the roof (via a hoist and scaffolding) to see the construction of works undertaken.

The tour will conclude with a summary of the works, feedback and a brief Q&A session.

PPE will be provided but visitors may bring their own PPE if they prefer.

Refreshments will be available. Car parking on-site
